It has been an honour to be entrusted with leadership of a BSES expedition and I am thankful to all members of the expedition for their hard work to make the expedition a success. Pete Allison - Chief Leader Being a Young Leader has given me the chance to become confident leading in an outdoor environment, and has inspired me to continue to search for opportunities to continue doing so. Stephen Brooks - Young Leader Looking back over the past three years of my involvement with the BSES Leadership Development Programme, I have been fortunate enough to meet a variety of young people, keen on leading others in the outdoors. It is only by leading others in a 'real life' situation, and feeling the stress of actual decision-making that affects others, that they can truly appreciate the continual self-improvement learning curve which will make them an outstanding leader in the future. This opportunity has finally been created within the LDP, and will hopefully remain a deeply meaningful experience for this year's YLs.
Helen Turton - Chief Leader You never know how far you can push yourself until you try but it's always further than you think. Marianne Gelister (Extreme Arctic YE) Definitely go. The fundraising is difficult but also rewarding. The expedition itself is of great benefit to the children. Andrew Phillips (Father of Matthew) Don't hesitate. Go For It!
