2011 Expeditions - Current Line Up

With 2009 expeditions just finishing up and 2010 planning well under way, the thoughts of 2011 and beyond are never far away.

There are exciting plans currently under investigation in the following areas. Keep your eyes peeled here for the results of the recces…

Oman’s Empty Quarter

Returning to a desert climate for the first time in a few years, BSES has fascinating plans for scientific study amongst the dunes and mountains of the empty quarter.

Pamir Mountains of Kyrgyzstan

Extremely remote and largely unexplored, the scale of scope of this range is second to none for a truly genuine wilderness experience.

Cumberland Peninsula area of Baffin Island

A stomping ground for polar explorers and Polar bears alike, Baffin Island is a spectacular setting for a wide range of arctic activities. The locals could not be friendlier or setting more stunning.

South East Greenland kayaking

The start of many Greenland crossings for many explorers including the revered explorer Gino Watkins – the possibilities here are endless and it’s sure to be host to a memorable expedition.
"The Object of the Society is to advance the education of young people by providing inspirational, challenging, scientific expeditions to remote, wild environments and so promote the development of their confidence, teamwork, leadership, and spirit of adventure and exploration."
